Albums
Toto's discography comprises 13 studio albums and 4 live albums. There are also compilations. Toto has released original music and collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The group has won multiple Grammy Awards.
Before the formation of Toto the group, members worked as sessions for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs album from 1975 Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to the formation of Toto in the year 1976.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics due to not having hit singles. In 1985 the lead singer Fergie Frederiksen resigned from the group, and the group held auditions for the new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the band recorded the 1986 album Fahrenheit.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the band. The band went through old tapes and recordings to create the unique record. The album was well received by fans and the band embarked on a tour featuring former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro and Totopia KR Joseph Williams.
During the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun, drummer Leland Sklar departed from the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the group.
